This 5-week workshop is open to beginners interested in learning the business and seasoned professionals looking for a brush-up.  Taught by Jason Sasportas, head of the voice-over department at Stewart Talent, this class covers commercial, promo, broadcast narration, audio books, animation and videogames.  Students will have the opportunity to record in the sound booth and receive detailed feedback from Jason.  Since networking is a huge part of success in this business, a casting director will be invited on one of the nights for a Q&A and to hear students perform mock auditions.

Ed Lewis is the confirmed guest casting director. Ed will attend the third week of class on Thursday, September 20th, to give students feedback on commercial audition reads and participate in a Q&A session.

Please note: There is a $100 non-refundable cancellation fee for cancelled registration up to one week before class start. If you are canceling less than one week prior to the first class you will be charged the full amount unless someone is found to take your spot. Thank you.

Jason Sasportas initially trained as an actor and screenwriter at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts before making the shift to the business side of entertainment. He landed his first agency job at The William Morris Agency as an assistant, working for several theatrical agents, before joining their commercial department as booth director. It was there that Jason fell in love with voice-over, able to draw upon his acting and writing experience to effectively direct talent, interpret copy and make informed creative choices.

When Jason learned that Stewart Talent, a boutique agency in NY, was looking for an agent to start up their voice-over department, he jumped at the opportunity. He got the job, built the department from scratch and for over a decade now has been successfully developing and nurturing the careers of his clients. While commercials are his main focus, Jason covers all areas of voiceover, including audio books, promos, documentaries, industrials, animated series and video games.

Ed Lewis is a Voice Director for Video Games, Animation, Audiobooks, Commercials, Documentaries, Promos and for pretty much anything else you want him for.  Ed’s extensive experience casting Film, Television and Theatre for ten years, paired with his actor training from the University of Michigan give him a unique perspective on how to approach Voice Over projects.  He treats his work as a VO Director exactly the same as his time directing auditions for The Wire, Chappelle’s Show, 24 and others. Ed’s experience working in casting with amazing directors like David Simon, David Koepp, David Esbjorson and all other sorts of Davids has taught him how to direct projects from children’s animation to first-person shooters.
